Nurture My Body Review & Giveaway

Nurture My Body is owned by wife and husband, Patty Kerr and Rich Arnold. Their company offers a wide range of organic bath and beauty products. Nurture My Body offers Skin Care, Body Care, Hair Care, and Baby Care products, including a great selection of gift baskets! The owners of Nurture My Body stated that their goal for Nurture My Body is to provide a wide range of safe and natural personal care products. They hope that each of their products can enhance the natural beauty in all of us while remaining friendly to the Earth.

The idea of Nurture My Body was born when Patty Kerr realized “that the pressure from society to look and act a certain way was affecting the way [their two beautiful teenage daughters] felt about themselves. They were never going to be ‘enough’. Patty became passionate to create a different ideal that would empower young women and men to learn to accept and love themselves by simply appreciating what nature gave each of us.” Each of their products contains an uplifting and inspiring message. Patty has a total of 26-years of experience in the beauty industry. She is a licensed Esthetician and Hairstylist plus she has a certificate in nutrition, body care, and herbalism.

Rich told me “our Shampoo has been featured in the summer edition of the National Geographic Green Guide as one of the 8 safest Shampoos to buy!” When reading their blog, I found out how safe their products actually are: “The best place to discover if the ingredients in your cosmetics qualify for really Organic Beauty Products is to visit the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep Database. The Environmental Working Group is an organization that reports on the toxicity of ingredients used in personal care products where each product has been given a hazard rating from 0 to 10. The Safest has a 0 rating, and the most dangerous level of toxicity has the 10 rating. Just type in a product or a company name, see their ratings, and presto, you can now make an educated choice based on scientific analysis. [It] turns out that 42 of our products have a rating of 0; 3 have a 1.”

Review
I was lucky enough to review one product from Nurture My Body: the Shampoo. The Shampoo that I had the opportunity to try is rated a hazard level of zero and can be used with all hair types. When I opened the review package, the first thing I loved was the wonderful packaging that the shampoo came in. The shampoo comes in a wonderful blue glass pump container that can easily be reused later (once I am finished with the shampoo, I plan to use the container as a hand wash dispenser in my bathroom). I love that both their products and their packaging are eco-friendly.

I have been using the shampoo for approximately 3 weeks now and I am really enjoying it. My favorite aspect of the shampoo is the smell. According to the packaging, the shampoo is supposed to smell like lavender and chamomile and it does. However, I also find that it smells a bit like peppermint or tea tree, which I absolutely love. In addition, after using this shampoo for about three weeks now, I notice that my hair remains as soft and shiny as it was previously. When I use this shampoo, I am generally using one to two squirts and washing my hair twice per shower (usually). I find that the first time I wash my hair with it (even though I do wash my hair once a day), it does not seen to lather up enough. But, when I wash my hair a second time, the amount of lather is perfect. Since I started using the shampoo, washing my hair daily and using it as directed above, I have only used up approximately 1/3 of the bottle. For three weeks, I think this is pretty reasonable. Overall, I estimate that the 8.5 oz. bottle of shampoo that I received should last approximately 12 weeks (when being used by one person daily, using one to two squirts and washing your hair twice per shower).

Although though they have many things I'd love to try for myself, I'd like for my son to try that Soothing Shampoo Bar. He refuses to use shampoo without an argument; he uses soap! This would be great to have him try, I could get my way and he could have his way.
Thanks for another wonderful giveaway.
