Magic Spicer Review & Giveaway!

As mentioned in previous reviews, we have a small kitchen. That means that I am always looking for unique storage solutions to take advantage of the little space I have. When I found out about a product called the Magic Spicer, I loved the simplicity and space-saving qualities of it. I'm happy to know that a product exists that allows me to keep my spices at an arms reach without taking up additional counter space.

The Magic Spicer is a "self-sealing magnetic spice rack with spice jars". The Magic Spicer website outlines several benefits and functions of the Magic Spicer products:

  • "Extremely Simple to Use
  • Super-Convenient One-Hand Operation
  • Space-Saving (Kitchen) and Time-Saving (Cooking)
  • No Holes to Drill during Installation
  • Patented Invention
  • Self-Sealing and Auto-Aligning
  • Magnetically-Hanging Spice Rack
  • Transparent Plastic Spice Jars with Variable Hole Size
  • Spice Labels and Blank Stickers
  • Complies with Health Canada and U.S. FDA Regulations"

Overall, I really enjoyed reviewing the 6 Jar Magic Spicer. My favorite aspect of it is definitely it's space saving feature. I like that I can add more storage space to my kitchen by using the bottom of my cabinets (In the past, I would have never thought that this was possible).

The one-handed operation of this product allows you to continue stirring while you grab your spice/s of choice and sprinkle it/them into your recipe. The one-handed operation is also useful for parents who often find themselves with a child on one hip while preparing dinner.

Installing the Magic Spicer was extremely easy. So easy that I didn't even need instructions to install it (It doesn't get much better than that). Instead of using screws or nails, the magic spicer comes with a sticky tape-like piece on the top of the magic plate (the piece that holds the jars). At first I wasn't sure how well this would hold up over time, however, I'm quite impressed. My Magic Spicer is sturdy and it is still holding strong.

Finally, another aspect I like isthat these jars are clear and hang upright. This allows you to find the spice you are need quickly without frustration. In the past, I've found that the majority of spice racks are not very user friendly. Most of the spice racks I've used in the past were difficult to manuevre because I'd have to read the top of each container since I couldn't see inside of the jars.

The only thing I'd like to see changed about this product in the future is the addition of different colors and product materials. For example, I'd like to see these offered in colors like black, grey, red, etc. Also, it would be nice if the Magic Spicer was offered in a stainless steel variety.

In addition to using the Magic Spicer in the kitchen, it would also work great for crafters and scrapbookers. You can easily install it under a shelf and use the jars to store your many embellishments! Or, Do you know someone who loves creating things in their workshop? This product could also be used to store things such as nails and screws. As you can see, even though it has been marketed for the kitchen, the possibilities are endless!

I haven't been the only person to review the Magic Spicer and give it the thumbs up. The Magic Spicer was kitchen tested and is recommended by the well-known Cooking Club of America. The Magic Spicer was featured in the February/March issue of the Cooking Pleasures Magazine. If you'd like to see what people had to say about the Magic Spicer, be sure to visit here for a sneak peek.

*Note: The labels shown in my pictures are not the ones that came with the set. Unfortunately, I misplaced the ones that were sent to me and I had to use some labels that I already had lying around.

The Magic Spicer comes in three different varieties: 6 jar, 12 jar and 18 jar. In addition, you can purchase extra jars (in sets of three) as need be. The Magic Spicer is exclusively sold on Amazon.com and they can also be purchased on the Magic Spicer website (via PayPal checkout). The 6 jar Magic Spicer is sells for $19.99. The 12 jar Magic Spicer sells for $34.99 and the 18 jar Magic Spicer sells for $49.99. Compared to other items on the market, taking into the account the convenience of this product, I think the product is fairly priced. Finally, the Magic Spicer comes with a satisfaction guarentee!

What can you win? One winner will receive a Magic Spicer (6 jar set).

I found out that most of the people reviewing this product agreed that it was a little expensive for only 6 jars, but everyone loved the idea

Jingle said...

I read that the magnets are very strong, which is a huge thing for me. I would probably keep my spices where they are and use this to store tiny craft supplies like beads and glitter! It's perfect!

Jingle said...

We use Chili Powder a LOT in our house. But, like I said...I would probably store things like glitter and beads in this great rack!

Jingle said...

An 18 jar would be the best size. For spices or other stuff, I know I would need more than 6 jars for sure!

I bake a lot and love the fact that the lids are adjustable. My 11 year old bakes with me and he also likes adjustable lids.

I learned that the kit includes 24 labels yet only 6 spice canisters. It still seems useful for most-used spices.
Thanks!

Courtenay said...

One spice we use a lot is Mrs. Dash Italian Medley Seasoning Blend and it would definitely be put in one of the canisters.
Thanks!

Courtenay said...

Because of our cabinet arrangement, two 6-jar sets would probably work best.
Thanks!

Courtenay said...

One thing I might like in a redesign would be a different configuration (not just the straight strip). Maybe a staggered layout to maximize the number of jars in the same, or slightly bigger, space.
Thanks!
